Lighted Vanity Mirror

A lighted vanity mirror is a great way to add extra lighting to your bathroom wall, and allows you to get up close and personal with the mirror.

A lighted vanity mirror is the perfect tool for those who need to get up close and personal with a mirror for shaving, applying makeup, fixing hair, or plucking eyebrows. Some lighted mirrors are adjustable and can be removed, so you will not have to lean over a sink or counter, and can be pushed to the wall when finished. Most makeup mirrors act like a magnifying glasses to help you see well, so you never have to take care of your face in dim lighting.

Lighted vanity mirrors allow you to see the finer details of your face that you can’t see in standard mirrors. They are commonly used for applying makeup and for shaving, because they provided magnification 1-5 times that of traditional bathroom mirrors. Some mirrors feature bright halo around the entire mirror, some are backlit, and others have built individual bulbs in the frame. Lighted mirrors patterns are available in plug-in and battery-operated models.

Lighted makeup mirrors help the user to correctly apply makeup and find blemishes that are invisible to natural vision. Often, these mirrors have a choice of lighting for indoor or outdoor use and from day or night use. You can buy a lighted makeup mirror to use on a table, a wall, or a more compact design with a bracket-attached folding easel. Models of lighted shaving mirrors include the anti-fog models, and are scratch-resistant, break-resistant, and come with suction cups to hang on the wall so that you can shave at the bathroom vanity or in the shower. Some shower mirrors also comes with an extension arm. You can buy a mirror that is powered by batteries, has adjustable magnification, and has an automatic shut-off function.  Other types of lighted mirrors are mounted on the bathroom walls next to or over the vanity. These mirrors can be back-lit or built on top of or attached to the periphery of the mirror. These mirrors provide no magnification, and are manufactured in various shapes and sizes. They are usually powered by fluorescent light.

You can find these mirrors for $10 for a simple tabletop mirror, to $7000 for a three-paneled titanium model with 7-times the magnification of a non-magnified mirror. Lighted bathroom mirrors are available at stores like Target, J.C. Penny, and Bed Bath & Beyond. You can also find them online at Nextag,  Lighting Direct, Amazon, and Ulta.

If you want to buy a lighted mirror that is good for you, be sure to analyze your needs before buying. Lighted mirrors are useful not only for applying makeup, but also other tasks such as, brushing and flossing teeth, facial hair removal and eyebrow shaping, and inserting contact lenses. Even if you buy your mirror(s) online, you should still visit some local stores and see the mirrors in person before placing your order. Choose a style of mirror based on its appearance and purpose. Mirrors made of stainless steel or brass offer a more formal look, while the three-pronged plastic mirrors offer several viewing options.
